« PC/Kiosk comparison Browsing for a document »
Out-of-the-box, IQ LINK contains three modules. The jewel in the IQ LINK crown is the Documents module; a full-featured document retrieval interface providing trivial access to just the latest approved version of your documents to your entire workforce.
In any workforce, there are going to be people who need control over document content. Who need to be able to browse superseded versions of a document, and to upload new ones. Those users are probably catered for in your business using either naming conventions and a file server, or some form of specialist document control system such as TRIM or Documentum.
But in most workforces, those users are far outnumbered by the users who just need to read the latest copy of those documents and get on with their job. Those are the users that are rarely catered for. Too often, those users are simply given access to a system like Documentum that provides far too much functionality for their needs. Or worse, those users are simply handed hard-copy printouts from those systems whenever they request one.
IQ LINK’s Documents module is the missing link. It connects to your existing systems (be they TRIM, OpenText, Documentum, SharePoint or even just a Windows file server) and collects only the latest approved version of all your documents, then makes them easily available to your entire workforce.
For an end-user, finding a document is easy; just walk up to an IQ LINK kiosk on-site and touch the “Documents” icon. You’ll be quickly presented with a simple screen providing a number of ways to locate your documents. The bulk of the screen is dedicated to large, textual buttons that have been…
Viewing a document at an IQ LINK kiosk is amazingly simple. Once you’ve found the document you want to view, simply tap the document (or the “view” button) and the document will be presented in a custom viewer that provides all the functionality a standard user requires without the complexity…
Your users shouldn’t ever need to know that the printer in the corner of the room is named FX-2939CP-II. They shouldn’t need to fiddle with margins and paper size and paper trays and colour types. IQ LINK lets an administrator define those settings once for each kiosk so all the users need to do…
Some users, normally young and computer-savvy, prefer to find documents by searching for them. IQ LINK allows that too. You can search for documents by clicking “Search” in the Documents sidebar. Enter your search terms and touch “Search”. IQ LINK searches for documents with including the search…
Since the touch-screen IQ LINK kiosks target non-computer users, we’ve taken some important steps to allow users to continue working within their comfort zone (using hard-copy documents) without having to sacrifice good document control (and therefore safety). Whenever a document is printed, IQ LINK…
