« Connecting IQ LINK to your existing systems Building new modules for your other systems »
The secret to IQ LINK’s broad compatibility with third party data storage systems is its modularity. IQ LINK’s Documents module can only present documents to users whose metadata and document files are known to it.
Rather than teach IQ LINK how to pull documents from every single document repository system, we construct a tiny helper application known as an IQ LINK connector. The IQ LINK connector is responsible for querying your document system, retrieving the latest versions of each document, and then publishing a copy of each to the IQ LINK server (in the structure and format it expects).
Since each customer’s existing document systems can vary, the IQ LINK connector is built as custom software for your company. It can be made to do practically anything required to map your existing workflow to its expected input. If you don’t already generate PDFs for your documents, the connector can perform that task. If you don’t already maintain version numbers or other specialist metadata, the connector can handle that too.
In fact, what the connector does, specifically, is entirely up to you!
The important thing to understand, though, is that this layer of abstraction means you can migrate from one document storage solution to another without retraining your entire workforce. In fact, IQ LINK users won’t notice any difference at all.
